I submitted my application today to get my starting in the truck driving world. I am 57 years old and making this big change in my life is scary and exciting. Been driving a school bus for seven years so I have some basic skills, but a big rig is longer and much heavier. I believe I can do it so I am anxious to find out. Danny S.
Hello Danny my name is Chris from Cincinnati Ohio I just submitted my application to Millis Transfer Training school. I'am 48 years old and this is a new big move for me also. I want a new change and career in my life. Just want to do something different I guess you can call it middle aged crisis lol. Trucking has been on my mind for the past year now and its 2015 and I'am ready for the challenge. I heard so many good reviews about Millis Transfer that is why I wanna train and drive for this company. I'am praying that I will get accepted because I heard they are very selective. When your one of the best I guess you have to be that way. It will be an honor to be accepted. Well good luck and blessing Danny or your training and career.

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

This past weekend went to Katlaw Driving School to check them out. I was really impressed by their facilities and their equipment. Sat up in the conference room and watched their instructors working with the students. It got me pumped and ready to go. I am going down this week to get enrolled for weekend classes beginning October 12th. I can't wait to get started. I have filled out my application for H O Wolding, I talked to a great lady there named Carol and she was very helpful and informative. I am hoping that I can get a pre-hire from them. I have been researching several companies and I have made a spreadsheet so I can compare each one and I have it prioritized by the one's I like the best. Some of them I have to wait until I am enrolled in school before I can apply. Dave at Katlaw has been very helpful in guiding me with applying with different companies. So I will post as I go through the process of CDL training. Oh by the way let me encourage all of you starting the process of becoming a truck driver to get all your information together such as w2's and birth certificate. Make sure you have accurate work history information because most of these companies want 10 years of verifiable proof. I have all mine copied and ready to go and I keep my resume handy every time I fill out an application. I hate filling out applications so having it all organized and together makes it so much easier. Good luck to all of you just beginning.

Pre-hire:
What Exactly Is A Pre-Hire Letter?
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
A Pre-Hire Letter Is Not A Guarantee Of Employment
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
