Just as a follow-up, I now have a couple of assignments for this morning that get me home this afternoon. But I'm still a little suspicious. And I had been set up for Monday morning with a nice assignment (which shouldn't have been affected by any of this) which is now gone and I have a short-haul live unload instead. Oh well, at least I'm moving.

Wish I could stop being paranoid, but it's just the way I am. I think I should get some credit for recognizing it and not calling up and yelling at people. Anyway, my latest paranoid theory is that it was really just a way to swap me to this load this morning (from the same place). We already had a discussion about how annoying it is to trip plan assignments twice a day because they keep changing, not to mention having the current assignment pulled when you're on your way to pick it up (which has happened 4 or 5 times to me in the past couple months). But I also realized that I probably didn't have the hours on my 70 hour clock to complete everything I had yesterday, so maybe they realized that and decided if I couldn't keep track of it they'd just let me sit for a bit.
Anyway, I'm moving *and* it's a beautiful spring day, so it should be OK.

If you at e a day late getting in for home time they will allow you an additional nite at home. Simply adjust you NAT accordingly.

Double booking can and does happen more than we know. Especially when DBLs are scrambling to cover a missed pickup. Or when the shipper screws up an orders twice for the same load.
Take it in stride and communicate with note/weekend DBLs about your status. Don't take it personal

The double booking thing makes sense, this happened to me twice this week and both were loads they were trying to recover. But both times someone had picked it up the day before I got there, so that seems like plenty of time to stop me from getting there.
I think Raz just means that freight is slow.
So here's what happened, I get to the place to pick up my load this morning at the same location I left at 1700 yesterday, and it turns out that it's a load that was ready yesterday at 1000. So my first reaction was aha, they really did do this to me on purpose, because this load was here all along. But then I realized that what they did was take a load that hadn't picked up yet and split it to get me out of there. So now I think I was just the victim of bad timing. I had this issue at 5pm on Friday afternoon, and probably anyone who could deal with it had left or was heading out the door. Still a crappy reason to sit, but less sinister. Note to self, in the future lean toward incompetence and laziness and less toward the evil plan.
Another thing I wanted to mention, I'm doing much better pay-wise than I thought I would. I expected I'd be lucky to make 35K the first year, but if things stay like they are I should make over 40. So as Joe Walsh said, "I can't complain but sometimes I still do."

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm not quitting (yet, anyway) or going off on anybody. I let them know that I was concerned about my home time. I thought probably people here would tell me I'm paranoid, and I hope that's true. It's just that the whole thing with that load was strange from the beginning, and I got a strange feeling that my manager wasn't too concerned about me potentially sitting here all weekend, while up until now they've always made sure I kept moving and I've never sat more than like 8 hours before (not count a 10 hour break).
Anyway, looked at google maps and there's a 24 hour Walmart about 1/2 mile away, so I know where I'm headed if they don't have me moving this morning.
