A good topic to jump into. Thank You Ryan P. for making an opening! I found this site while looking for info on the Trucking industry and have been using the High Road CDL training since finding it. I'm a 50 year old military vet, was just looking for a "bill paying job" and not really "feeling" anything I was looking at until I hit a job that required a CDL and started actually learning about the business (mostly through youtube blogs). The more I learned the more it was like "Holy Sh**, this would be actually awesome!" I've done a lot of skilled work in construction: electrical, HVAC (which I really liked because it was fast, in and out), a little refrigeration, some plumbing (which is pretty straight forward). I've done security work and office pogue work, both at the management level. Worked for a Union where people with less skills walked in and bought a card, then followed me around on a job making twice what I was making as an apprentice, watching me show them how to do basic tasks, and finally here I am (I've also worked as a baker and actually have a certificate in culinary arts, though I never bothered to even pick it up).
50 years old. Everything's paid for but I still need a paycheck once in a while. I was seriously not enjoying thinking about what possible job I could find that would be the least regrettable. And this crazy Universe shows me something that not only could produce serious bank for me, but be something I could actually enjoy.
Much appreciation for the site creators and maintainers.

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
Thank you for your service JL!

Well Chickie, I looked into Roehl and I was really liking what I was reading, more so than the others I've looked into. Unfortunately they are not hiring out of Louisiana, which surprised me. I'm not sure if that is a permanent thing or just temporary. They also didn't have an email that I could ask about the hiring in Louisiana. Ugh just my luck lol. I'll keep looking though
