At a guess I'd say East regional as that area has better freight availability, but it's usually dependent on your DM , your performance, etc. more so than the division you're in. Better to take a true OTR position if you're looking for maximum miles as that will mean you can take freight anywhere. Regional is usually geared towards getting more regular hometime. And of course, they will send you out of the region regardless if the need arises; there's no guarantee you'll stay there all the time unless you're on a true dedicated account.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Congratulations on graduating.
During your orientation with Swift you will meet your driver development manager. This person will monitor your progress as you go through mentoring. They are there to match you with a mentor, advise, work through any issues and also at completion help you with your initial driving assignment and introduction to your DM. Although there are no gaurantees, make your preferences known up front and again as you near completion of your 200 hours of mentoring.
Swift is a huge company with many driving and dedicated account options.
Good luck and enjoy the mentoring phase. Safe travels.
