Dang it boy !!! you been cruisin' !!!! get your rest, tho...when you finally wear out, you will have to take some time to rest...
Oh yeah! Hometime in two weeks I'm just going hard until then. I want to have extra money for my 22nd birthday. It's rediculous, every load I get is at least 1000 miles and its been like that for weeks. I'm usually getting 900, 1400, and a 2300 here and there. One time I had 2200 followed by a 800 then a 2000. I don't know how I still make time for reading and TT lol
It's actually been the best time driving I've had so far. I finally been to Maryland a few weeks ago. My last load was 45000 of onions. Which was my heaviest I've had so far. The weathers been great and I'm not boiling. My DM has been funny with his Qualcomm messages.
It's almost been too good...
That's great Daniel. But be careful. That burnout is hard hitting. Make sure you get your rest. That is the most important thing. It would break my heart to hear anything......well you know.
When is your birthday? I will put it in my smartphone for dummies and old folks. Wow, 22. How cool that must be in this day and age.
I remember running hard when I first went out on my own too. I had a dedicated run up the east coast and finished up in Flint Michigan. Drover from Georgia down to Jacksonville Fla. up through the Carolina's and on into Michigan and Wizzzconsin. But those back hauls were a blast. I freaked out the first time I picked up over in Missouri at the underground cave in Sanford I believe it was. That was so cool.
Just take care of yourself o.k. Have fun but be safe. Your family must be really proud of you!
A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."
Tracey, I'm usually between 9,500-11,500. So I'm never running too hard. And I take my hometime every chance I have. I'm usually out for a month but then home for 4-5 days. I've definitely been taking my year easy. Just this past month has been pretty crazy. I also delivered to a cave in Missouri. It was the ones in Carthage. They were so cool! My wife was with me back then and we arrived late at night and it was sprinkling rain. It made it all seem surreal.
Your making me jealous; ) How is Central about getting you home on time?
Very good. But I'm blessed with a DM who was a driver for 10 years and a dispatcher/fleet manager for 4 years. He knows what he's doing.
I usually go home on the day I requested. If not then I arrive the day after. My brother was getting married a while back and I put my request in and I got home late and arrived at the wedding 1 hour late. But it was fine they appreciated that I came. Especially since I woke up that morning in the beginning of UT on I80 and I needed to be in Sacramento, Ca later that same day. So it took a lot of effort from me and him. He was on the phone with me discussing available loads to get me home and there were none in WA so instead of going from WA to CA I had to go through ID and into UT then to CA. So it wasnt really his fault that the freight just wasn't there. But they are good about getting you home on time. At least my DM is.
Your family must be really proud of you!
Just called my wife to tell her about it. I said I did 13000 in the last 30 days. That's about 430 everyday for 30 days straight. Her reply was "oh that's it? But I remember you used to do 600 miles all the time".
Unfortunately they aren't as proud as you all may think.
Daniel..family doesn't understand that you don't run around the country for 30 days with THE SAME FRICKIN" LOAD !!!! You have to drop it, load another one, drop it, load another one, ....you know the drill. And it all takes time...that you can't be rollin' on the road. But I'm sure she'll appreciate the pay check...That girl needs to read more TT, and get to know what a driver goes thru. I have alot of respect for truckers wives...but then, there are times.... When I started stayin' home, and TSB was on the road, I made plans...to make NO plans when he came home. I left atleast a day for him to decompress, catch up on sleep, EAT EVERYTHING in the house (he hates TS food), and just get used to scenery that didn't move. I made no plans for us. we did what he wanted, when he wanted. And it worked for us. Its wrong to fill every minute of a truckers home time with "stuff"...They need down time, get to know you again time, and just sit and zone time in the comfort of their own home. jmho
