But I think it is awesome and hope to do some hard driving once I get trained(safely of course) So keep it safe my young brother. Harry W.

My day typically started at 6am. Driving at 7 and driving nonstop for at least 6 hours or until a fuel stop. I took a break after fueling because I hate stopping constantly. Sometimes you just have to take more than 1 break though. The logs are difficult to polish because youre using your entire time. Im going by on recap hours always with hardly any room to spare. I hardly ever done more than a 9 1/2 hour shift. That way I keep getting back good hours and I havent had a day of downtime besides today. At the end of the day youre always tired so its stretch and brush your teeth and read until you fall asleep. I did good on sleep. A few times I delivered while on my 10 hour break. I had to trick my qualcomm one time. I got to my 99 and they wouldnt let me park there so I had to go a mile down the road to the truck stop and come back when I didnt have hours. I logged out of the Qualcomm for 3 minutes and flew there as quick as possible. If you do it right the qualcomm falls for it. But I never do that unless I'm in that situation.

Its been really busy. Thankfully I was blessed with no night driving lately.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

Congratulations Daniel! I chuckled when you talked about telling your wife, mine is that way also - I can be so excited about accomplishing something out here, but when I tell her she just seems to wonder why I'm not getting more done! It keeps me on my toes though, gotta love these gals that expect a lot out of their man. It's all good! keep those wheels rolling, and one day we'll drink some tea together!

Well I'm far below 13k now. Smooth sailing until I had a split pickup with a different driver. He picked it up 250 miles from the drop yard and he was supposed to drop it on the 20th. Instead he dropped it on the 21st at 2300. And the pickup location was only 250 miles away! I waitied so long I got myself a 70 hour reset. Load will have to be rescheduled.

I do well, but the moment I have to depend on another driver in order to keep me running is the moment when things go bad. I can only imagine how frustrating it is for the office people to have to deal with bad drivers like these.

Good job!

I've been out since July 18th and just rolled over 24,000 miles. Then my truck broke. I've been sitting for 24 hours, hopefully the part will be in tomorrow and I'll get rolling again. Unfortunately, someone else got my load and is finishing my trip, but I did get in the miles from Mississippi to Montana. My instrument panel went out just west of Gillette WY, and I nursed the truck with no speedo, no tach, no oil pressure gauge, no water temp gauge, no A/C and no Cruise Control. The good thing is I am on breakdown at my home terminal in my own house. If it had to break, it broke in a good way and at a good place. I hadn't been home in a long time.

I really hope I'm on the road again tomorrow! Gotta roll and earn money!

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
