Welcome JK. A couple of months back, TT adopted a policy to focus primarily on newbies, students and rookie drivers. The O/O and L/O threads became repetitive and at times heated so the decision was made to take a pass on this type of discussion. There is however a whole bunch of archived information on this topic that you may find helpful and at least entertaining.
Here is a link to that information: O/O & L/O archives You can also perform your own search by typing a topic in the search bar found in the upper left hand corner of this webpage. Press enter and the matching information will be returned for you to review.
Good luck and by all means we welcome any and all input from experienced hands like yourself. Safe travels.
I would just look for a flatbed company to work for. With the payscales the way they are you should start out near the top as an experienced driver anyway and you will also get a good sign on bonus.

Been a company driver/trainer for 5+ years now. Money and benifits are great. Home time and schedule is not. Considering getting a truck and starting out for myself. Been pulling reefer and van. Very interested in flatbed. Is there a way to make all of these transitions at once or am I better suited leaving my company for a flatbed company to learn and sacrifice the money and time in? Also looking at lands tar vs small companies to lease on to at first. Any advice or comments are welcomed??????
