I had read here that they were going back to all 10 speeds. But, you're there, so I guess you know what's current.
BTW... my instructor at school mentioned during class that he had discussed the switch to automatics with one of the Millis brothers (i.e. the owners) in person and Mr. Millis was very clear that are moving to all automatics.
Thanks for that info.
I'm typing this on my phone, so please excuse the typos.
Interesting first day on my trainer truck. I met up with my trainer at a shipper. Moved my stuff on to his truck and we waited about 4 hours for them to finish loading us. By the time we drove and got parked for the night it was 1am.
This morning we noticed the trailer's air tank was leaking. So, before we left the truck stop we got in line at the shop to have the tank fixed.
Well, it's about 6:30pm now and we haven't moved an inch. The truck is still in the shop bay and we have a 2:30pm delivery time tomorrow... 983 miles from here.
It's going to be interesting...

Starting off with a bang. Or was it a hiss. I crack myself up. Good luck and have fun. Looking forward to your next post. How did you get to the shipper where you met up with your trainer?

You are a funny guy... a LOT of hissing.
The shipper was only about 20 minutes from my home, so I just bummed a ride.

Thanks. I'm funny sometimes and also corny. That worked out great for you that the shipper was so close. I see Millis trucks all the time in Charlotte.

Yes, I live in Charlotte. Off Sugar Creek. I live close to several terminals. Good luck when you go. Are you going to Eden? Hope you will start a training diary of your own.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

No... it's my understanding that Millis will be ALL automatic.
As to testing out in an automatic, and therefore having that restriction on your license, company-sponsored schools are in place to train drivers for their company's fleet... rather than training drivers to bail on them and go to another company. So, no company is going to be concerned with/if their students have an "automatic only restriction" on their CDL.
Again, this is merely my understanding of the current situation at Millis and my opinion in general... I could, of course, be dead wrong... only time will tell.
