LinkedIn has an option where you can make your profile hidden from everyone. Mine's hidden right now. I'm still reaching out to companies. If they ask about my work history or current situation, I'll tell them. I honestly believe they have more important things to do than spent time looking up every applicant's LinkedIn profile and comparing notes (for those that even have one).
Like everyone here has said chill out. Your attitude has everything to do with your success or failure in life. Go after your dreams or sit back and watch them pass you by. I wish you great success in your trucking career. If you read the posts on this forum and blogs on this site, you will see over and over again how a positive attitude helps get out of the worst situations.
As far as your linked in goes, either delete your account, change it or be honest about it. Honesty goes a long way.
In my life experience, attitude has little to do with it, especially when other people have the power to decide whether or not you get to work there. Life isn't like a little league game. Little League is fair, life is cruel, cold, and hostile, and very unjust, which is why I lie when applying for office-type jobs like on LinkedIn. We have to accept that when dealing with other people, a lot of things are out of our control. I could have a great attitude, only to find that nobody will hire me because of some BS on the DAC , or some BS in general. That is my concern. It would be quite the story if I were to get nailed badly for being honest, but stranger things have happened. It's a cold world.
I just made my LinkedIn private. Nobody can see it now. Hopefully said company hasn't already seen it.
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
Everyone else has so much power and I'm just a loser without a job and a huge debt.
Oh man, I can tell right off the bat that you are your own worst problem. Man, that kind of thinking has got to stop - immediately!
You say some crazy stuff like this:
Life isn't like a little league game. Little League is fair, life is cruel, cold, and hostile, and very unjust, which is why I lie
Your analogy is dead wrong, and it is why you aren't getting anywhere. You must have grown up during the time where every kid got a trophy just because he showed up with his uniform on! When I was a kid the only people who got rewarded and recognized for being achievers were the actual ones who achieved success! That is real life my friend, and that is how success comes to any truck driver out here. You are going to have to do some serious soul searching if you plan on making a success of this career. Nobody will need you as a driver if you can't prove your worth to them day in and day out. The performers come out on top in this career. It is not fair - that is why there are so many moaners and groaners on trucking forums - nothing ever is fair to them - the company always screwed them.
There is nothing fair about success, at least not in the sense that you think. The rewards go to the victors - you are going to have to get that mind set working for you my friend. And that is the true meaning of fair - the ones who earned it got it.
Actually, I grew up during the recession when people couldn't find work, lost their homes, and skilled/educated people ended up working for minimum wage, and we still haven't recovered. I grew up at a time when kids would get arrested at school for things that would have resulted in a simple detention 20 years ago. I live in the de-industrialized, non-union, wage-declining, America where people must pay for health insurance they can't afford or be fined.
I've been out of work for a very long time, and it isn't because I'm not trying. It's because life kicks you in the balls. No reason needed. If life was fair and success always went to those who did the best, then there wouldn't be any problems in life. OSHA and the NLRB could shut their doors, the unions could disband, politician wouldn't be a dirty word, there would be no diseases, bad things wouldn't happen to good people, the Catholic Church wouldn't need to offer confession, and so many lawyers could move to another type of law.
The world is cold and everyone and everything is looking to hurt you. It's a jungle out there.
I don't expect trucking, if I am ever fortunate enough to have such a career, to be all sunshine and unicorns. As a matter of fact, I expect it to be really tough and often scary. At best I expect it to be somewhere between "just OK" and outright worst case scenario. And I'm fine with that. I'm fine with that because it's all part of a larger plan I have for my life. But it's hard when you're down and people keep telling you you're a bad person for being down, when people tell you life will be all sunshine and unicorns if you just try. And you know it isn't that simple.
Blue, I tried my best - I gave it to you straight.
If you had any concept of the twists, and turns, and struggles my life has been through you would be ashamed of how sorry you feel for yourself. I feel no pity for you, I know what it takes to succeed. I always shoot straight my friend.
And here it is straight from the mouth of someone who knows - self pity will crush you into a never ending cycle of despair and defeat.
You can do with that what you want, but I'll just tell you what I did with self pity after it tried to get the best of me - I crushed it like an enemy! for me, it is a vanquished foe. For you it has become a crutch to lean on, and an unstable one at that.

I just don't get it, I'll never understand the mentality "positive" people have. Regardless, it won't effect my work. You may not believe it, but it won't.
Self-pity, life in general, optimism, pessimism, are all irrelevant to this topic of this thread. I apologize for the role I played in getting us off topic. The original topic being will the thing in question appear on my DAC if the hypothetical worst case scenario did, indeed, happen. Old School has pretty much answered with no, it won't.
But my mind won't be calm until I either see something substantial stating that it won't, or the company calls me back and indicates that said bad scenario didn't happen. This forum cannot provide me with the last one, and the former probably doesn't exist. I have to wait until Monday or later. Just me and my anxiety, driving me crazy. It has been like this my whole life, so forgive me if my posts aggravate you. There is nothing I can do.

You can start by reading some books that will help you understand your mind a little better. Learn how to control it and understand the devastating effect it's having on your life. And it is devastating your life but you don't realize it because you've never been free from its burden.
I'm one of those endlessly positive and optimistic people. I've watched countless people ruin their own lives with poor thinking and it's heartbreaking to watch. In fact I feel the same way about people who don't take care of themselves physically. People are so self-destructive it's horrifying, and so completely unnecessary.
Just like a person can form bad habits that lead to drug and alcohol addiction, a person's poor thinking habits can make them a misery addict. You can get to the point where you identify with misery as if it's part of who you are. At some point you just become the "poor me" guy just like the "town drunk" guy and the "town druggie" guy.
I've had a saying I've lived by my entire adult life: "to the extent you control your mind you control your life". You're not a victim of the world around you. You're a victim of the world within you. Healing and moving forward starts with recognizing the problem. If you keep telling yourself there's nothing you can do about it then things will never get better. Admit you're causing your own misery and then start taking action to correct it. Otherwise your tombstone is going to say "Here lies the poor me guy. So much promise, so little happiness."

In life it isn't what happens to us that makes the difference, it's the story we tell ourselves about what happens that makes all the difference in the world. Really, our lives are lived between our ears. It's the way we think about things and the stories we tell ourselves.
If you tell yourself your scared, everyone but you has the power, and that you are a looser. Guess what?.....
How about...of course I'm nervous about making a change and everyone who gets into this line of work is, it's up to me to make the most of it, and after all the sh*t I've been thru I'm still standing. Hoorah!
No wonder you use a frown. I'd be mad if I self-talked myself the way you do too.
You don't get breaks in life, you do everything you can to put yourself in a good place to catch one when it flys by.
Now you get to decide if you want this career or not, and whether you are going to do whatever it takes to make it happen. If you aren't, save yourself the grief and walk away now. I love you man, I just don't want to see you make yourself continue to suffer. I know you can do it, just don't know if you do.
From what I can tell, you gotta have a strong spine and a big heart in this business to succeed. What you tell yourself will go a long way in whether you make it or not.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
To answer your question ::
No... a lie on linkedin will not be on your DAC. Do you really think they are trolling social media? They are paying tens of thousands of dollars for criminal records. Drug records and driving histories. You must provide an employment history.. they won't go looking for it.
Now.. what you actually put on the application is a different story... lie on the app about a DUI you thought was expunged...a conviction you thought no one would find... they'll find it. But still.... without a license and no employment you have no DAC to speak of
