Devan- FYI: 32 Swift Company Terminal Locations

Otay Mesa, CA Syracuse, NY Jurupa Valley, CA Denver, CO Troutdale, OR Edwardsville, KS Sparks, NV Sumner, WA Atlanta, GA Lancaster, TX Greer, SC Harrisburg, PA Columbus, OH Albuquerque, NM Lewiston, ID West Valley City, UT Houston, TX Memphis, TN Gary, IN

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

If we're ever on the same road you'll see me. I can almost do 62, not quite, so you will pass me.

I was so proud of myself for backing into a spot at a busy pilot in Minneapolis. I did it quickly and safely despite all the traffic and freelance parkers in the way. The next morning I thought I'd check to see where our nearest terminal is. You guessed it RIGHT NEXT DOOR. Literally the next driveway around the corner.

Harrisburg is actually Jonestown PA, about 45min north of Harrisburg off of I-81, PA-72.

Last week I was on a load that I was delayed getting loaded at. As a, result my appointment at the receiver was rescheduled.

When I got to the receiver, they notified me of a 240.00 dollar late charge.

Freaked out, I called my fleet manager and explained to him why I needed a 240 dollar advance on my card.

After if was all said and done, I asked if it looked bad on me for being late. He said absolutely not! This is why you always communicate what is going on, and document things. (Arrived at location, docked at location, depart location. .. ect..)

I'm sure that if I hadn't documented things, it would have been a different story.

I'm still having some trouble learning to relax.. my last job was very high stress / rush rush rush.

Fleet Manager:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Yeah I am guessing I wasn't charged because no one said anything. I been having hell with being on time lately.

Late for pick up today. Dispatch never sent the dispatch and I asked for it, but I guess that is how trucking goes. I might not make the delivery because of my hour situation.

I try my best not to rush though, have to take my time. I'll work on improving my timea, by being earlier I guess. Anyways hope it is going better for you now. I may feel a little stressed now, but I'll feel good when this check comes in haha.

Remember, if you feel you will be late (can't help with appointment times), send in a macro22 Running Late to document your situation.
