I had to get into a really really tight dock today that first had me weave thru a small driveway then I had to pull out into a road where cars just whizzed by not caring about me at all. I told the guy at 90 I was really new and that was tough ... he laughed an said I did really well and he's stood there for an hour waiting for drivers to back in lol

YAY me... see rookies... there's light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to backing. ;) stay calm... GOAL and be safe

After about two months solo I felt good enough to say this. After about eighteen months I think I'm getting good at overall backing.

Yes, newbies, in spite of how you felt in driving school, you'll get the hang of it, too!

Good for you Rainy. Repetition is one of the better teachers.

I felt pretty good last month when I had to blind side offset around a building between two trucks. Almost 90 degrees and kind of down hill. Got it done and boosted my confidence.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

I've had two tough 90s today plus a 45 around a trailer at a Flying J.

I think all in all I've done pretty well with them! Not going to say I'm the greatest but I can get the job done!

Needless to say, my hubby is pretty proud... smile.gif

I've been frustrated cause it seemed just when I got the hang of it I would get something really tight that would throw me off kilter and make me lose my confidence. . Bring back the frustration. Weird thing is.... I'm much better at 90 than anything else lol

I recently went to a customer that took me an hour to get in... it was a narrow driveway and no way to pull forward. I had to jump the curb to get in.. then the guy said "ur the first 53 footer we got in here". Noooooo really? I took a pic cause the utility poles were still standing hahaha

There was a Prime driver next to me when I did my second dock today, which was tricky because I had to 90 around a bunch of poles and a/c units then around a wall into the dock.

When we got out to open the doors the Prime guy was standing outside his truck and he gave me a fist bump and said "that was pretty dang good! That one wasn't easy!"

That made me feel pretty good I have to say...

Some days I can't do that either lol

I still sometimes say out loud.. "it's gotta go right so I gotta turn it left". When I don't say it. I'm proud afterwards cause I did it without thinking hahhaha
