Hi my name is David I decided to go to prime to hopefully get my CDL and a career as a truck driver but the road has been a little bumpy, my first trainer was a nice guy but very easily annoyed with me because I did not shifting gears correctly (I found out he's going through a divorce and selling his house and that he really didn't want to train anyone) so now I'm waiting for a new trainer. Has anyone else had issues with Prime, when it came to requesting another trainer? I really want to get this down and get my CDL as well as be a good, safe truck driver but I want someone who has the patient to train me correctly. I come from a long line of truck drivers but I thought I'd pick everything up quicker than I am.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

If you read through some of the training diaries on this site, you will see that many people have difficulties when they first start with a trainer. The best thing is to relax and take your time. There is a lot to learn in a short amount of time. Good luck.

Thanks. My parents are truck drivers and they told me the same thing. I thought I'd get it more quickly than I am.
