I think it's more that you won't have all that much time on the road. During your 10 hour breaks, besides sleep you do other things, like eat and laundry. So, is 1 hour of internet use per day worth the monthly charges?
That's a good point Errol. The price just doesn't seem to match up to the service with a lot of these packages from what i've been reading. Best load-up the laptop with books, movies and shows before hitting the road. ; )
I wonder if a cheaper data plan would stand-up to a lot of google earth and maps use for trip planning though. Any thoughts?

True, hadn't thought of that.B
Paul. Not sure what rainy has. But mine is the same. Straight talk from Walmart. They even take 5 off if u sign up for auto pay. Also sorry to hijack the op lol
It may have already been said, but if you haul freight in the I-80 and I-70 corridors, Wal-Mart phone connectivity is spotty, and the data network is atrocious in the sparsely populated states. Hundreds of miles of no data at a time. That's why I got satellite radio.

If you are referring to on the road internet conection, yes. My Radar, Cat scale finder, and various truck stop apps. Trucker Path. Google Maps (yes, I use it to watch for traffic, until I can get a truck-specific GPS - but Trucker Path is running right underneath it, showing low bridges.) I also send Glympses to my mother when I stop every night. I tether my laptop for forum stuff. Wal-Mart Family Mobile. 10gigs 4g then unlimited slow speed. unlimited phone and texts, $55 per month.
A network of over 1,500 certified truck scales across the U.S. and Canada found primarily at truck stops. CAT scales are by far the most trustworthy scales out there.
In fact, CAT Scale offers an unconditional Guarantee:
“If you get an overweight fine from the state after our scale showed your legal, we will immediately check our scale. If our scale is wrong, we will reimburse you for the fine. If our scale is correct, a representative of CAT Scale Company will appear in court with the driver as a witness”

I know people that have 4 year degrees in the it field and make less than 15 a hour. Just because you have a degree doesn't guarantee you a 100k a year job. I talked to a steak and shake waitress she has a bachelor degree serving burgers, it doesn't always pan out.
I am tired of my physically demanding job, I am ready to cruise the earth.
