I also got a WIA grant and went through private schooling. I didn't even know company sponsored schools existed until after I had already started school and found this website.
Feel free to ask questions. There is always someone around who can help out. We have all been where you are and remember how scary and frustrating getting started is.

WIOA - Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (aka WIA)
It used to be referred to as WIA but they've changed it to WIOA.
WIOA:
WIOA - Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (aka WIA)
Formerly known as the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), the WIOA was established in 1998 to prepare youth, adults and dislocated workers for entry and reentry into the workforce. WIOA training funds are designed to serve laid-off individuals, older youth and adults who are in need of training to enter or reenter the labor market. A lot of truck drivers get funding for their CDL training through WIOA.
HOS:
Hours Of Service
HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Just wanted to take a second and say hello. Sure is a ton of information on this site and I appreciate every bit of it. I'm about to take the plunge into trucking and I'm trying to soak up everything I can. I'm in the middle of applying for a WIA grant to help with school and hopefully that pans out. If not, I will get it done some how. My goal is to go private school first vs. company sponsored. Until then I'm studying and just reading everything I can. I'm determined to make this work. Thanks again for all the info!!
