I am sure that this has been asked before. The reason I ask about background checks is I already have a security clearance in the military. I have already done the fingerprinting and the background checks so many time I count even count them. Is there a way I can get this information sent, so I can go about receiving my endorsement since I am already in the system?

My understanding is all companies will do a background check. If you're that clean, don't worry about it.

If you are refering to HazMat i believe the answer is no. Needs to be done by the TSA. I would make too much sense to take into account your Military clearance. You are former Military, I'm sure you understand the nonsense of Federal Bureaucracy! At least you can be reasonably sure youll pass the TSA BK check

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

I am not talking about the companies, only when I go to get my CDL permit from the DMV and the DMV wants to get me to do everything over again as far as the background checks and fingerprinting ting for the hazmat.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

HAZMAT:

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DMV:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

I guess I didn't see it, since the time marks seem to be at the same time. I see what you are saying though tractor man. What I have done was through the federal government as well. Seems as though it should be in the system since my checks have gone through the FBI and I would not have a clearance if there were any issues. It seems as though TSA is connected to the FBI system to determine glbackground checks. My fingerprints are in the FBI system and I am sure my DNA is in there as well.

Dont sweat the small stuff. Pay the fee and get your Hazmat. I think I paid $85.00 for the Fingerprint and background.

I am not really sweating it. Just don't want to have to spends hours driving to one place then more hours driving to another place when the information is already there.

You'd think, right? I had a TS/SCI. Doesn't matter. Pay your money and take your chances ;) Keep your receipt because some companies will reimburse you.

A military clearance is not the same animal as the hazmat background check. Search TT for Trucktographer. He had a military TS clearance, but had to go through another one to haul military vehicles.

No organization will take another organization's clearance as a punched ticket.

As for hazmat background check fees, your company may pick up the tab. Ask about it.
