Hello Shawn, and welcome aboard!

If you haven't seen it yet, we have a lengthy thread going on in here about McElroy. Check it out, you may find some answers to some of your questions right in the discussion.

Usually you will meet up with your trainer right there in Cuba, Alabama, but occasionally they may have to get you to some other place to meet up. McElroy is a great place to get your start in a flat-bed company.

While in school we had a McElroy truck that parked there every Friday about 5 . He is a driver mentor . But at the time I wanted to go a different route ( tankers ) but I live only 30 minutes away from their training facility so I think it's a good start , thanks for the direction to the thread I'll check it out .

Shawn, welcome on board. It's hard to say where you'd meet up with your trainer as it depends on who is available and also if you choose smoker/ non-smoker or first available. There is a good chance your trainer might park at the Cuba terminal but if not you would drive to his home parking spot near his hometown. Lot of guys park at the nearby Lowes if there is one. As Old School mentioned, the McElroy Truck Lines thread has a lot of good information. I've found them to be a good company to work for.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
