I applied to prime on mon.. had a response and sent them my info on wed. And by sat I was on a bus for orientation. Three weeks later I tested and got hired once I had my CDL
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Can anyone give me a rough estimate on how long the hiring process takes? I have good driving record but I have to get my system clean from marijuana. It was recreational use because I quit drinking in '08. After being on disability for 4 yrs getting fixed up so I can return to work. Now I'm ready to become an OTR driver. Thank you for your input.
Stacey...keep in mind that some companies are doing both a Urine test and a hair follicle test. I'm sure you are aware...pot will show up in any hair follicle test as well. Good luck
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
The hiring process may not take long at all but you won't be able to pass a urinalysis test for at least a month or two and a hair follicle test for at least 6 months or more. Also, if you haven't been working lately there will be some companies that won't hire you. They want to see a recent work history. Of course others will overlook this.
But you might consider getting a job that doesn't require any sort of drug test for a while to let your system clean out and to have a recent work history. It doesn't matter what the job is and it doesn't have to be related to trucking at all. Just work for a little while, let your system clean out, and you'll be ready to go.
We have a list of companies and the type of drug testing they do here:
