I've been through Kansas 4 times already and we seem to be hitting the same thunder storm every time we pass through. Can the same thunder storm really last for two weeks solid? LOL

Not sure what company you work for, or their routing gps, but that QC is nearly useless. If possible, when you go solo, I'd get a truck gps to help you out. I rely mostly on my atlas, followed by my rand McNally. Lastly I use maps on my phone to scope the area and get a visual.
I'm with Prime. I do plan on buying a decent truck gps, and I'm very thankful that I know how to use a traditional map!
I think you need to learn how to back out of those situation without having your trainer do it. Sure you would have to go at a snails pace, but what practice with an experienced guide. Good luck and stay safe. Glad you are getting along great. I bet you won't make these mistakes again. :)
I offered to do the backing on the dead end road, but I'm not sure my trainer trusts my backing skills completely in such a situation. When I got us stuck in the parking lot, it was super busy, and I had a bunch of angry people blocked in...so I asked her to take it. I am pretty good so far backing into docks, but I'm not confident enough yet in situations like that parking lot. We had some time on our last run, so my trainer had me practicing backing into spots at a busy truck stop where there wasn't a lot of room to maneuver. That was definitely what I needed....very frustrating but I'm learning where I tend to go wrong at least.
One tool that I find invaluable is satellite view on Google Maps. Get a good overhead visual before you head towards a shipper/receiver/truck stop etc. If you do make a wrong turn.......STOP as soon as it is safe. Turn on your 4 ways, take a walk down the road and check out your options BEFORE you proceed. It will also help clear your head and anxiety. I have done this a couple of time and always found a safe place to turn around.
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Don't forget the street view. Errol taught me this. Street view often shows signs such as "Truck Entrance" that are really helpful.

I got stuck in a loves in TX solo. It was so small n busy i didn't even turn in... just parked on the side of the road in front where 10 other trucks were. Ate then returned to truck to see a sign that said "no truck u turn you WILL get ticketed". Hmm. Ok. I pull out the map and Google Earth to see if there is a connecting road or lot big enough for me to turn around. NOPE. so then I thought I'd be sneaky and drive a few miles to an intersection ...I'm in the middle of nowhere and turn around there. Their "County roads" were all dirt and mud. No way was I turning. Just as I pass the first intersection. I see a cop parked behind a sign. He was waiting there for turning trucks!!! He waved me down and said "good thing you read the signs. Turn left 4 miles down it will get u to interstate".

I use truckers path as well, but when teaming with my husband and he is asleep, the GPS is right there. Ours will shoe cat scales. If it has a cat scale you should be okay. Just dont trust the GPS solely. It is just a guide.

All part of learning. I drove through a mountain road in Washington that a truck shouldn't be on. Took an exit before the one I needed to take and went into a trailer park. You will learn and do better, don't dwell on the mistakes. As long as you don't hit anything you are doing good!
