It never ceases to amaze me how much they shed. I brush my guy every single day but he's like a fur factory. It just never stops.

Shepherds would be perfect for it if it wasn't for their size and the shedding. My guy is 110 pounds and he's as lean as I would want him. I don't know how you'd get him in and out of the truck. But they are quite capable of sitting in one place for 10 hours at a time quite happily. They jump up and take off as soon as there's something interesting going on but they'll just go chill out all day if nothing is worth bothering with.

If you could find a dog with that sort of temperament, less shedding, and maybe about 50 pounds or so you'd have a good candidate.

Up until a out six or so years old I don't think Nova would have had a problem getting into the truck. My son has miniature pinscher's and they are actually pretty cool for yap dogs. LOL

I think the Swiss or Norwegian's have to sudo miniature shepherd but it's not really quite the same thing.

My road trainer at CDL school had a boxer mix that could jump in and out of the truck. He would go riding with us when we took the truck out on the road.

We had a bench in the sleeper area and he was a hog! He'd lay right in the middle on top of people.

Of course, he always got a Slim Jim when we would go down to put fuel in the truck. It was always my job to break up the Slim Jim and give him the pieces. He would always give me crazy eyes when I would eat the first piece before he slobbered all over my hand! Then he would try to eat the wrapper when it was gone....

He's a pretty cool dog and always comes up to visit me when I park the truck for hometime. And boy does he LOVE to ride in the truck!
