I have been looking at these trucks and was wondering what you guys' opinion on them were. I want to eventually have my own O/O Car Hauler business, but don't really want to drive a truck with a headrack (that just means that I want to drive a normal truck with only the car hauler trailer) Here are a few of the trucks I have really been interested in:

2010 International Lonestar 2016 Western Star 5700XE

2012 Mack Granite GU713

2007 Volvo VNL64T670

2015 Peterbilt 567

International has the most problems with after treatment for the exhaust.

Western Star is a big, roomy truck but they have been having some quality control issues. Still a good truck and fairly light weight.

The Mack Granite is more of a vocational truck, it is going to be heavier.

The Volvo will be heavy also. Nice and roomy from what I hear.

The Pete is going to be the lightest out of all of these but will be really close to the Western Star.

By the time you are ready to purchase a truck, Western Star will have the quality issues worked out. They have already identified the issue and have a fix. I am sure they are implementing the quality controls in the factory also to eliminate the issues. Mainly water leaks. So for me if I had to choose, I would still pick the Western Star.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

I do want to mention that you are getting the cart before the horse. Don't let your aspirations blind you to the realities of the trucking industry. My boss has 12 trucks now and he has said to me that if he had to do it over again he would just keep the shop and not do the trucks. He has been doing this since 1978.

I think I do want a Western Star... They're good quality trucks and seem very powerful and dependable. I like their new model (the 5700XE) a lot, and hopefully there will be some good used ones by the time I eventually buy a truck.
