Hello everyone, hope all is good for everyone. Went home for home time & i was enjoying it until this bad rain fall came in & now everywhere is flooded here in a Baton Rouge & surrounding areas. Water is in people's home & in some areas up to the roof tops. People are having to be evacuated including myself & my family to get to shelter & higher areas. It's almost like Hurricane Katrina all over again except the was not hurricane or even a storm...this is just plain old rain. Interstates are closed roads are closed, streets are flooded. It's horrible man. Not to be religious or anything but if praying is your thing send prayers my way for my family as well as the state of Louisiana in general. Thanks! Stay safe you guys!

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

Joshua, your tag says Nashville, but you talk about Baton Rouge. If you are in Baton Rouge in this weather, it's good you're home so you can help out. Not much worse than being on the other side of the country when something bad happens at home. You might let your DM know what's going on, you may get more time home to take care of things.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I agree with Errol, sucks that this happened, but so fortunate that you are home to deal with it.

Yes I need to update that tag. I've lost everything. My car, my home, clothes, but it's all good. As long as my kids are safe I couldn't ask for anything more.

Deb has your situation in four words. And your relaxing home time with the fam is certainly ruined.

But I say again, the absolute best thing that has happened to you here is that you were home when you needed to be. Suppose you were in Pennsylvania, and you saw this News: "Torrential rains & flooding in southern Louisiana" and you get a phone call from home "It's all washed away, but we're all right." There is no truck, bus or even airplane that could get you home fast enough, and not to mention you would have a time getting through the flood & storm to your family. So I'm glad you were there when it happened.

Does your company have a charity fund? You might check in with them to see if they can help.

You are absolutely right! There is no way I could imagine how I would have been able to handle myself if I wasn't at home & had to get that phone call halfway across the country. There is no way I would have been able to drive because my mind would definitely not have been focused on the road. Man I don't even want to imagine that. God is good & im glad it was meant for me to be home with my family in this time of need. Tell me this do you guys think that my company Schneider will be ok with me having the week off this week? Is it unrealistic to be off that long? I mean I have nothing, can't make it to the truck & as a matter of fact the tank wash where I leave my truck park flooded so I wonder if the truck flooded on the inside as well. I'm going to call them this morning but what do you guys think?

Crete has the big trailer sides that say "Our most important asset sits 10 feet in front." That goes for any company. They should do right by you. Just keep your DM informed.

You topic says "Home time Ruined". Sure, you were expecting to kick back and play with the kiddos. But you now realize, yes, that part is ruined, but you still ended up in the right place at the right time for your family. Now stop posting things and take care of business. :-)

God Bless. Let us know, though, how things go.
