First day at work at my dc, my safety guy took me out on the yard for close quarters backing training, and to see what I knew about pre trip. Once we were done he told me to go unhook from the empty and head up to the office to meet my fm. He took off and I put the trailer on line. Dropped the landing gear, got in the trailer and used the release knob to unhook. Pulled forward and heard a loud pop. My stomach dropped and my butthole puckered. In my haste I had forgotten to disconnect my air and electric lines. I thought for sure I had destroyed them and would be fired on my first day solo. Luckily they were fine. I looked around to make sure nobody saw, cussed myself a little and got the heck out of there.

Now I use A certain mental checklist for drop n hook that I do NOT deviate from!

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
