ABS Light

Hello everyone. This is something I don't know much about. Can someone please tell me why the ABS light on my dash keeps coming on for the trailer? I've never really had this problem until I got a trailer manufactured in 2007. Everytime I drive over anything that's a bump my ABS light for the trailer goes on and doesn't go away for minutes, one time it stayed on for about 30 minutes. Can anyone enlighten me on this? I spoke with a driver today he said you can get a ticket for ABS light and it'll cost you points on your CSA score. But why is it a violation? What's the issue? I dropped off that 2007 trailer today for a drop and hook and this new trailer isn't giving me the ABS light. So was there something wrong with the old one but not this new one?

Thanks in advance!

CSA:

Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA)

The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle

Drop And Hook:

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.

In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

Something wrong with the wiring given the intermittent nature. Also check the pig tail; sometimes there is a pushed pin. I get one every once in a while on our older trailers. I have heard conflicting reports on the ticket issue; has to be installed but doesn't have to be operable. Obviously it is better for safety.

Some will come on if ya get a trailer doesn't have abs but don't worry bout those to much companies are getting rid of those. If it comes down to ur pig tail pins take a flat head screw driver and lightly don't manhandle it spread apart the pins to have a small gap in the fork end.
