There have been some posts lately asking about better close ups of the pre-trip inspection. While doing some research today I stumbled across this video. He DOES miss some things on this video, but gives several first person close ups as he goes through that I thought might be helpful.

If you have been studying follow him along and see if you can figure out some of the things he missed, he has notes at the end of the video of some of the mistakes that were made.

Pre-Trip Inspection Video

Again it is not complete, but it is nice seeing close ups and locations as he goes through.

Pre-trip Inspection:

A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.

Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

Very cool! Thanks for that Woody!

And for those who haven't come across it yet, we have a Pre-Trip Inspection Study Guide which includes pre-trip inspection flash cards, several other pre-trip inspection videos, and a free list of items to download. And of course we have a pre-trip inspection section in our High Road Training Program.

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.

Hi Kenneth, no I have not attended their school. I am trying to wait for the Knight training facility to open up in Indy. I talked to them yesterday and was told it will probably be a few more weeks.

I can't personally say if they are good yet or not, I sure hope they are lol.

You will read good and bad opinions about every company. One thing I have learned from hanging around here is for the most part, it is the driver and his attitude that can often make any company good or bad.

But I will say I have heard a lot of good things about Knights training. One of the main things that makes me want to lean towards them is when you are on the road with the trainer you are not supposed to be dispatched as a team. I want him to be awake when I drive so I can learn, and I want to be awake when he drives so I can learn. There are other things about the company that I like, but I know Brett doesn't want this site to be a place for recruiting so I will keep it short.

Best thing I can say is decide what it is you want, and then look for those opportunities in the companies you are considering. Really research them because I have heard through the grape vine that sometimes recruiters might bend the truth a little.

When are you going to be moving to Indy?

Actually, it's not that I don't want TruckingTruth used for recruiting. What I don't want is it to be used for misinformation. You can talk about facts day and night - no problem. Facts are facts. So if there are 200 facts you like about a company like their pay, benefits, equipment, home time, policies, etc then list them. I have no problem with that.

That applies the other way too. If there are 200 facts you don't like about a company, list them. No problem.

I just don't want people spouting off a bunch of garbage about any entity that can't be proven or isn't helpful. To hear, "This company treats people like garbage and you'll never get good miles" or "They don't care about their drivers. They're just being paid by the government to hire people and then fire em right away." .... garbage like that. Heresy, lies, exaggerations, slander - that's the kind of stuff I want to avoid.

But all facts and truly helpful, legitimate opinions are always welcome.

Kenneth, I am currently at Celadon here in Indy and while not perfect I would recommend it. It will help greatly if you already have your permits but as long as you have taken the Highroad training you will be fine. If you have questions I will answer.
