Try to pretend it's like any other day. You probably won't have an over confidence problem lol but what I like to do when my nerves are wracking is convince myself I am going to pass/do whatever it is I'm doing, visualize myself completing and succeeding. And then when the time comes, just go through the motions and don't think about anything really other than what I am doing. Works for me anyway lol, maybe this will reach you in time to try it before your mock test :D

You got this!

Turns out, I passed the backing with flying colors! Only got 1 point out of a possible 12. Had to restart an alley dock once and used 1 pull up netting 0 points, on the offset i restarted twice and pulled up once netting 1 point. However, I had 4 stand-alone instances where I would've dailed the driving test. I curbed a steer tire, pulled out in front on a 4 wheeler going straight at an intersection as I was turning left, the instructor had to tell me to slow down when a car in front of me went to the left lane and back to the right lane and slammed on the brakes to turn right (ugh...), then I pulled out in front of another car that was hidden by a bridge that I didnt see. Obviously, I was extremely frustrated with myself afterwards and stayed quiet the rest of the class. I proceeded to go home and had a few drinks to calm my frustrations. Surprisingly enough (and probably unfortunately...), it actually did work.

Tomorrows a new day! Let the mistakes of today be remembered as a learning experience and forgotten as a screw up and go into tomorrow (nervous as hell) confident in my skills and abilities to pass this god forsaken test!!!!!

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Good Luck Unholychaos! It's been fun and interesting reading about your journey through truck school. After today I am sure this one will end, and a new one will begin! Definitely keep those automatic fails in mind and watch out for dumb people :( unfortunately that doesn't end at truck driving school, it's a daily thing you just kind of get used to seeing and watching out for. Not everyone is watching out for us or anyone else really. Honestly I'm kind of scared of what happens when I go to take my test, and someone cuts me off hard and slam their brakes on me and I instinctively hit my jakes and brake O.o It's just what I've gotten used to doing even though I'm usually within city limits (jake brakes prohibited).....but this is also the reason why I get cut off so much le sigh.

Anyway! I'll be checking back in here later to see how you did :D I'm sure you will do very well.

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a perfect score on my pretrip and backing, made use of my 2 free pull ups on the alley dock. Just getting the backing first try was a huge accomplishment for me. During the road test, I got a few points for curbing the trailer tires which contributed to my not being close enough of the center line making the right turns. I did grind quite a few gears but the tester chalked most of them up to the trucks turbo not working properly. I wasnt able to get up to 55mph to save my life! I was going 35mph in 9th gear, 1300rpms, throttle all the way to the floor! The others in my truck were having the same issue so it wasnt just me. Other than that and a couple idiots, which I reacted to properly, I had no issues and finally got to the stopping point. I signed the paper I was being tested on, got out of the truck with my head held high and a big sigh of relief; its all over!!

Thanks everyone for the support these past 6 weeks. I hope to see you guys out on the road in the near future!!
