We get a lot of "prime rewards points". We can use them in the company store or even the day spa. I've already had two, hour long hot stone massages, got my hair dyed, and bought a bunch of clothes and sneakers with the points. They sell refrigerators and satellite dishes, blue tooth headsets and more. You can use your points for that.
Prime's owner also owns a couple hotels including a casino... we get discounts. I just rented a 2 floor suite with spiral stairs, full kitchen, 2 baths, and a jacuzzi with chromotherapy overflow that had TV in the bathroom mirror and a bidet. The room would have been about $500 in NJ.... I paid $150 with my discount.
Prime just set up a deal for satellite... we'd have to pay $23 per week plus installation and I think $200 flat rate for equipment rental. But it includes local tv, 100 channels including premium HBO Showtime etc and the NFL package. Back home that is $250 per season.
Depends on what YOU would consider a "perk" and whether it's important enough to SACRIFICE PAY FOR.
One of the companies that offers DirecTV and onboard television, also only pays .30-32 a mile (versus more that pay .38+).
Perks depend on the VALUE YOU PERCEIVE.
PAY is the top perk to look at. Equipment (age, APU , etc.) - while not a "perk" would you rather be driving a truck with 1Mil miles and no APU, or a newer unit?
Cushy is, as cushy does.
What you want to leverage your EXPERIENCE FOR - is better pay, better equipment, more hometime, etc. Don't be lured by lower pay and satellite TV.
What is IMPORTANT TO YOU?
Rick
On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.
Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.
I don't spend to much time at home as is. And the company I seen direct tv with started at 42cpm.
And not all companies have an either or type of mentality. And basically I'm just shopping. I almost waited two months and went with Prime. I'm also looking at both of Primes subcontractors along with USexpress and one of its subcontractors. Just wanted to know what else is available other than CPM...
Not to mention 50cpm isn't great if you spend most of your time parked.
Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.
And Rainy that's exactly what I was looking for. And definitely a perk. But how do you accrue Prime points?
We have a couple at Roehl I really like. Most of the terminals have a loaner car you can use to run to walmart, or a store near the terminal for free. Another one is free washers/dryers at most of the terminals. Also free laundry detergent, too.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

You basically get them automatically for doing your job. Fueling scanning in trips driving safely on time delivery. We do get cash bonuses for the safety and delivery as well... but the points show up on our app.
They do them in a weekly monthly and quarterly incremenr.... so i.might have say 130 points right now but then get 3000 at one time aND be like wow... howd that happen. I found out that at 3 mos solo 6mos solo you get $25 worth.. but I got a bunch when a drunk driver hit me, they said I handled the accident properly and gave me some. They do surveys about customers and they trucks.
You get a xmas bonus depending on length at the compnay... I got $35 last year woth 1 mo employment but ITS $50 over a year and I think $150 over say 10 year or something
After a year our insurance drops significantly... I think from like $66 per pay to $22.
The springfield terminal not only has a gym, bunks, showers, pool tables, a movie theater, day care center, company store, salon/day spa, mail boxes we can rent, shuttles to local points a 24/7 cafe with good food made to order..... but it also has an indoor basketball court where prime owner Robert Low plays with employees everyday from noon til 2pm. They laundry is $1.25 per load much different from $5 per load at TS.
We have huge parties at the terminals for Christmas new years and even Halloween . The kids all dressed up and went trick or treating thru the terminal. Today they are having g a driving competition and a BBQ with free food. They did a special female drivers convention back in april
Every Friday they have a safety meeting which is live streamed to the terminals where breakfast is free to all who attend. The videos are then put on the app for us to see.
I never fear of running out of cash cause if in need I can ask my FM to take a cash advance on my fuel card. This same card can be used in the cafe as a cash advance.
Don't be dazzled by direct TV cause if you are running miles you won't have much time to watch it hahah

I was thinking that very thing about direct TV . . . who has time to watch tv?
Mention direct tv and that's all anyone takes away from the post. I just seen it as an unusual perk and wondered what else some companies offered.
Although a free rental car at terminal seems like it would awesome.

What are some of the other out of the norm driver perks? I've seen companies advertising direct tv. But other than that what are some of the perks you've seen?
Yes I'm starting to more actively look for a different company to run solo with but would like to jump to something more cushy so as to speak.
