The officer did mention something about a class but she wasn't sure what it helped on the ticket. I asked if it would lower the points and she didn't know. Of course she also said that she didn't think that the points ever fell off...... Guess I'll ask the judge.. He should know...maybe....lol! confused.gif

Points never fall off? BS. In NJ you lose one point per year I believe. Our insurance is so high $1800 per year full coverage one car one driver no points or tickets... that 4 points could add hundreds per year to your insurance premiums. I'm pretty sure in NJ the class takes 2 points off... but gives you a discount on your insurance. Then you drop a point each year. Call your state's DMV and ask.

It's still better to fight the ticket and have it removed... cause that is a not guilty. Going to class will look good.. but technically it is still a conviction as far as a ticket goes. You know what I mean?

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DMV:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

Thanks Rainey. I do understand. It just struck me as funny that she thought they didn't falloff....lol! Well on the 14th I'll find out if there is anything that I can do. My mother will have duck fit if the insurance goes up that high. If it does, I will have to start driving sooner than planned smile.gif Wish me luck...will keep you updated if you like.

Maybe she meant didn't fall off slowly. Like maybe on NJ you lose one point a year but in CA you have to wait 4 years and then all 4 come off at one time???

Maybe she is as new as we ate ahahhah

You have a point (no pun intended). I found out that she used to be a corrections officer and recently made the move to a patrol officer. What is really going to make this whole thing even more fun is her husband is a judge!!!!!! I hope that I don't get him. Hehehehe!

If you take a defensive driving class it will remove the points from your license BUT the ticket will still be there and trucking companies will see it. My experience has been that any moving violation will be seen and it's up each companies discretion whether or not to accept it or pass you by. As far as Millis, I also applied to drive for them after I graduated with my CDL. I was told by Millis that unless a person attends their school and training that drivers are required to have a minimum of 1 yr OTR experience

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Thanks for the info..... I was planning on going to their school so that's not a problem. It just seems weird that I haven't heard from any of their drivers on here. I was hoping to pick their brains to get a feel for the company, ask a bunch of questions and such.
