Points? As in Truck Stop rewards card fuel points?

Normally a Trainer gets the fuel points, its his Truck. My Mentor would let me use my card to get fuel points if he already hit his goal at that Truck Stop. It is really between you and Him/Her. Mine would always get Team Showers for us so I never needed to worry about shower points. I hope that answers your question. Good Luck!

Forgive me New School, but I fail to see why you would be so concerned with such a trivial thing as this at this early point in your career. Surely you've got bigger concerns on your mind.

Is something going on that is causing this to be an issue? I'd like to understand the reason for your concerns.

Just for your curiosity, here is how we did it when I was with my trainer. If I was driving, then I pumped the fuel and swiped my card for the points. If the trainer was driving he swiped his card and got the points.

If you've got a trainer who insists on using his card and accumulating all the points, don't let it bother or distract you from the task at hand: your training. It is his truck, and it is a very temporary thing you're going through. He may be a little obsessed with getting points, but don't let that be one of the things you learn from him.

Old School, my trainer was the same way but then he always got team showers so i didnt have to worry about whatever chain we stopped at since i was new and didnt have shower credits everywhere yet. When i went solo i had shower credits built up or enough points to pay for one if i had to.

While we are in my trainer's truck, he will get enough points to maintain his shower pass for the month through Fly J/Pilot. Once he has obtained enough for that to be maintained, then I can use mine to help accumulate points as well to get that going. But legitimately, like Old School said, you will have plenty of opportunities to get your own points once you get your truck. Focus on training right now and utilize every second you have with a trainer.

I can totally understand this question... for.me it was about showers. I didn't have the money in training to buy showers and relied on the trainer for team showers.

The last trainer was a dirty disgusting jerk who never showered and I didn't have the money to get them myself even if I coukd have made the time during a 30 min break.

To answer the question, many trainers are owners or lease ops who are paying for the fuel. Not only are they getting shower points but points for food. If they are paying for the fuel, why would you be entitled to the points?

The sucky thing about it was thst I left prime with no points and a full tank so it took a little while before I had to fill up for a shower.

Each trainer is different. One trainer takes each student to Vegas for the weekend. One trainer gave his student half his bonus when she passed the cdl. One trainer paid for all meals. Others do none od that. Some will split the diner bills.

That makes sense Rainy. At my company they dont have O/Os so all trainers are company drivers and theyre expected to provide students with daily showers as much as posiible. There were a couple of times due to loads it was a second day thing.

The trainers here also try to get you started well enough on showers and points so youlll be ok for showers at least your first week or so solo and should be ok after that.

Often, esp when new they would give us multiple fuel stops of 55 or 60 gallons so we got lots of credits at different chains.
