I don't mind the hijacking at all. LOL You guys have made me laugh, and that's good medicine for curing rookie woes. I feel infinitely better...

As far as teaching, I made it 14 years before giving up. Loved the kids (except the 6th graders I taught along with my high school kids the last two years), and I really do miss them. The administrator my last year had been a PE teacher/coach and was an egotistical, overbearing, micromanaging a-hole who told me that he didn't see why I couldn't just google my lesson plans (instead of spending hours per week on them). The final straw to the proverbial camel's back was him saying it was too much to expect my students to do homework and actually study for my exams in chemistry and AP physics.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Hey Kat...glad our antics amused you and took the edge off. Quite a bunch of characters we have here...

Better days are ahead for you once you get past the initial learning curve.

Good luck and be safe!

From a Chem/AP Physics teacher - to an OTR Trucker. That's a switch out.

I feel sad for your frustration on our educational system. Sadder still for that common-core and other changes forced on the educators, will do to generations of our young that will finish school as nothing more than "worker bees", with very little training in free/intellectual thinking - other than to find ways they have been triggered/offended - and how to ask for directions to the nearest "safe place".

Sigh...

Sad indeed...

Rick

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
