G-Town, I know you are aware of the difficulties of communicating with text only - it's easy to be misunderstood. While I agree with your premise that those things would be unprofessional, and we certainly don't want to leave the impression to any new drivers here that might think we condone such antics, I thought it obvious that Phox was speaking in jest. I honestly don't think he would do any of those things.
He did give me a chucl5e though, because he provided me with a memory of my grandfather doing something very much out of character for himself. Once when I was a young lad he took me to a shopping mall and some "young whipper snapper" cut in front of him to grab a parking spot that he was clearly setting up to park in. As we walked into the shopping center my grandfather quietly walked over to the young man's car, pulled out a little tool from his pocket and quickly removed all four of his valve stems! It was scandalous! We both walked inside with big grins on our faces and never spoke a word to each other about what just took place.
Like I said,...trying to give the Young Man the benefit of the doubt... I'll leave it at that.
It all comes back to respect and courtesy. Personally i wont BT in a full spot, because i can fit many places a guy with a trailer cant.
I agree with that. Just to clarify, when i posted above that "I would do it because of noise", I meant I would park back further in thd spot if I were in tgat situation. But I'm with you, I'd avoid taking up a trailer space if at all possible. I like those rest stop angled pull through spaces because you can fit two tractors in one of those.
My word. Ok I'll take my turn. You know what ****es me off? Seeing a bunch of professional drivers see a legitimate question as an opportunity to badmouth their fellow drivers.
Well, sorry if you're counting me as one of those. I didn't mean to badmouth anyone, I was trying to point out that there's a different view of the situation, and I don't think either one has the right to say someone else should choose a different career. Although someone here did tell me that when I complained about reefers parking next to me ;)
A refrigerated trailer.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Wasn't aimed at you. I probably should have just stayed out of it, honestly. But no one likes you anyway, nose-in parker. Haha

Don't worry, I know. :) But it's ok, it gave me a chance to explain. I was afraid after I posted that that it might have sounded like I wanted to start an argument.
Some day everyone will park nose in, I'm just waiting for if to catch on.

I always try to avoid parking in full-sized spots when bobtail , but there have been a couple times when all that's left is full-length spots.
When that happens, I park about six feet back from the noses of trucks to either side of me. This means they will get hit before I do.
If the lot is a REALLY tight lot, I back all the way back in the spot, so that if one of the trucks next to me leaves, the next truck to back in will have an easier job backing. And I leave my marker lights on.
"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.
From personal experience, it's a good idea to check with the fuel desk before parking anywhere but the truck area, even when bobtail. A few months ago I was bobtail at the Olive Branch, MS Pilot. I parked next to at least 10 others on the car/rv side. A few hours later all of us bobtails got signs taped to our windows saying we would be towed soon. By then it was so late there were no spaces left. So the lot was overflowing with bobtails stuck in every corner.

The part of this story that really makes me angry is if there is a car or rv is parked in the truck lot they won't do anything about it. But they will tow the bobtails that are trying to leave spots for other drivers.

Kurt, You are on fire today. This is the second time in 3 minutes I've almost had Diet Coke squirting out of my nose.

Thanks Tractor Man. The rest of the regulars here try to pretend I'm not hilarious, but I know they regularly have to clean beverage spray off their computer screens..
