That's a good idea! I haven't used that app very much, but I will definitely try to use it when I find myself in this situation again. I learned very quickly about not being able to find a place to park in the middle of the night, but I really thought it wouldn't be filled to overflowing at 7pm! I guess it's the area.

My tip: avoid parking within 50 miles of a major city. Places like St Louis and Milwaukee will start filling around noon and be packed by 2pm. I kid you not the Pilot in Braselton GA was full two days in a row at 1000... Wtf???

On trucker path look at the "availability history" as well as the revirws. If there are mostly green you have a good chance of finding parking, but always have a backup plan.

Also for now go to really big TS like 300+. There are petro ta and flying j that always have parking in the back cause people are lazy. The Petro in OKC has at least 30 spots open even at 0300.

Make a list of places you see open spots at night so u know u can use then later. Also make a list of where to avoid. I told trucker path we should be able to out stops in black lol never go back

I have been using trucker path app lately to find the non chain lots. I kid you not, I spend the night at an Exxon that could have fit 80 trucks. There were about 30 of us there. A mile away was a loves so jammed with trucks up and down the interstate ramps.

This^

Tho that truckerpath app *failed me once so yeah, backup for your back up.

*Says there's a truck stop, cake was a lie gentlemen. No truck stop :(

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

I use Trucker Path literally every single day. Figure out what time you want to shut down for the day and how many miles you want to run before then. Then use Trucker Path to find a truck stop that will still have parking at the time you want to shut down. Read the reviews and use the "Parking Availability History" tab to get an idea of whether it usually has spots open at that time.

This has been my routine for months and I have never had to pay for a spot unless I wanted to shut down at a particular truck stop after dark. For example, one of the last few times I delivered to Miller Coors in Golden, CO, I paid for parking at the TA in Wheatridge. I knew it would be full by the time I arrived so I reserved a spot early in the day. We actually have a terminal in Denver, but my 70 and 14 were so low I didn't have enough hours to get there after I delivered. I could have just told dispatch I didn't have enough time to deliver that night and they would have probably let me deliver in the morning, but I wanted to deliver that night so I could go home in the morning.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Ok, so I am just finishing my 5th week with my trainer, so take my comment with that in mind.

In 5 weeks, we have slept at a major truck stop only one time. We use rest areas and mom and pop truck stops to sleep. We even used an out of the way industrial area one night. The major truck stops are just plain dangerous during the busiest times. Truckers creating their own parking spaces, newbies like me backing into spots, the list goes on.

Fuel there, eat there, shower there, then get the hell out of there.

Just my newbie opinion.
