I know a lady driver that worked for Celadon for many years and she had great things to say about them. She had a really sweet deal on a dedicated run from Houston TX up into Canada and back. She loved working for them. She is retired from driving now and teaching at a truck driving school.

Dedicated Run:

A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."

According to their website you need 9 months verifiable experience:

- At least 22 years old at the time of application.

- Must have 9 months verifiable tractor/trailer experience in the past 36 months.

- Must hold a valid CDL Class A license issued by the applicant's state of residence.

- Good driving record.

- No DWI , DUI , careless or reckless driving convictions in the past 5 years.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Wow, could they be more vague??? It's a recruiting service of some sort and their symbol sort of resembles that of Celadon's but they say nothing about themselves other than "We'll train you and find you a job with a carrier. Call us." wtf-2.gif

I don't know. Where did you see they're a company that's a division of Celadon?

I don't see anything that say or even come close to say that they're a division of Celadon. I do know many drivers from Celadon and even talked to one of their recruiters and the the consensus is that Celadon do not hire anybody with less than 9 months verifiable OTR experience. Do your extensive homework before doing anything and do not let anything fool you to get into a ship you might want to jump later because it is not what you thought it was.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Oh and many recruiting services like to say about anything just they can get people hired on with somebody and they get their cut of the pie. Be extremely careful with whatever decision you make.
