Hi Tom, welding to Trucking Truth! Yes, your questions will be answered here.
You sense you might ask a question that already has an answer? You have two options: you can ask anyway, and get several answers customized just for you. Or you can use the search box in the upper left, and go through several answers all at once.
Look at the links all across the top of the page. Maybe your answer is hiding right up there! Who'd a' thought!
The time thing varies too much. After a bit of research here, I made the jump and called Swift. Within two weeks I was in class at Swift's Academy. You can always stretch out dates & stuff to fit your schedule.
Where do you live in Florida? Hiring areas are based on a companies freight. You can imagine the difference in freight activity between Jacksonville and Miami. More trucks travel I-10 than get down to the end of I-95.
I don't know how some are but xpo logistics I talked to them Tuesday they told me they could have me in Joplin mo Monday so depends on the company

My name is Tim and I just discovered this site a couple days ago.
First, I'd just like to say thank you for all the info and advice available here. Being a truck driver is something I've thought about on and off over the years and if I had found this site sooner, I may have made the jump a while ago.
I'm in the "overwhelmed by all the info" stage 😂 so I'm sure I'll end up asking the same old questions that have been answered a thousand times, so here's my apology in advance. 😉 "I'm sorry for beating a dead horse."
I currently live in Florida, so it seems like I'm very limited in my choice of sponsored schools which sucks, but at least there are a couple. Of those it seems like prime would be the best for me.
One immediate question I do have is the time frame.
How long does it usually take from initiating contact to acceptance/rejection and then going to the school?
I ask because if it's a matter of months, it would be better to start the process sooner rather than later, but if it's usually a few weeks to a month or so, I'd rather hold off on getting the ball rolling until I've had a while to study the available info/ get my ducks in a row so I don't get caught off guard.
