Just finished Bevill State CDL Program. I now have my CDL and School Certificate. This CDL program was a very good experience for me. We started with 17 people, four people dropped out. 11 graduated. Altogether not counting the ones that dropped they have about a 90% pass rate.

The first week is permit preparation, after that all the yard exercises are intriduced. And you start driving on the road daily.

The exercises consist of all the cdl requirements

Pre Trip Inspection Alley Dock 100 ft Straight Backing Offset right backing And the additional non cdl required exercises

123 Exercise which consists of forward zigzag through barrels, offset alley, and straight exercise through cans.

Backward serpentine - backing through barrels to the left, then through more barrels to the right.

Coupling and uncoupling

The day begins with an hour of class room instruction. Then every group cycles through the exercises every day. Each group has an hour to practice two exercises, then when the hour is up they go on to two more exercises. And each group also has an hour of driving on the road

So altogether every day you have 15 minutes of practice on each exercise and 30 minutes of driving time.

As the weeks go on a lot of people quit practicing, so if you have one exercise down but are having problems with another one, chances are you can practice it for longer at some point in the day.

Altogether this was a positive experience. Some of the yard equipment is old, but still decent enough to learn on.

The instructors were really good. If you put in the effort and give it all that you have. You will probably pass. If you sit in the classroom and do not practice you may very well fail.

The total cost is around $1700.

It is a 6 week course, one week for permit, four weeks of yard practice and driving practice. The last week is test week. We'll worth the money, would recommend it to anyone wanting to get their cdl. They are also starting a night course in the next class. The night instructors were training with our class, most of them were as good if not better than the day instructors.
