Do truckers generally prefer to use a truck wash thats near a truck stop where they will sleep? I'm looking at opening a truck wash and the location is where two major highways intersect. There is NOT a large truck stop near by though so I'm wondering if it will make money or go bust. The closest truck stop is Loves, and its about 12 miles away. Please everyone chime in!!!

We have all our trucks washed in a wash bay at a company terminal.

Many companies also have a contract with Blue Beacon, so im guessing the bulk of your potential customers might be O/Os?

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Throw in a large gravel parking lot and another building with bathrooms and showers. You may have a winner. Even offer a free shower with a truck wash. Truckers are always on the look out for new safe havens to park at. Throw some vending machines in for good measure.

If there was a large food grade shipping facility nearby and you offered trailer washouts that could certainly help too, but yes, parking and restrooms would be a huge draw

Prime has control acts with tons of places.,...so you would need to get with carriers and set up accounts for them. They will out u on a list for drivers to choose from. Personally I go to blue beacons cause they are 24/hours. And tend to do a better job

Best places to out them would be near shippers...or even walmart distribution centers. If after I empty the trailer I could wash nearby then park elsewhere would be cool.

Meat shippers require washouts...Kellogs and nestle sometimes ask for wash receipts. McCain frozen food asks for receipt.

Washes are often near truck stops....and it can be easier if for example I pull in can get washed then go park....all on off duty saving my drive clock.

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

For me, it depends more on what shippers and receivers are nearby. I look for washouts either near where I finish a load, or where I am going to get a new load. I rarely stop for the day where I get a washout, or stop partway through the driving day for a wash.

If there is a place where truckers stop nearby, go talk to them.

If there aren't any large food shippers or receivers near your washout location, you are probably not going to see a lot of business, but I could be wrong, if you have a lot of traffic and there are shippers or receivers without washouts near them that route through your location.

Good Luck!

PS. Be sure to put it on Trucker Path app if you get going. The app is popular from what I've seen. It's what I use to locate washouts, unless I can't find a wash in a sane place, then I start talking to truck stop cashiers/managers, because most truck stops have the phone number of a mobile washout person that can come to the truck stop to do washouts.

Brandon, Did you just inherit 10 million dollars? If so, spend it on something that won't make it disappear so fast!
