Operation Safe Driver Week 2016

Operation Safe Driver Week, sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), kicks off next week, October 16-22, 2016.

During Operation Safe Driver Week, law enforcement agencies will be tracking unsafe driving behaviors such as speeding, failure to use a seat belt, distracted driving, improper lane change, and many more.

In 2015, the CVSA found that passenger vehicles speed significantly more than commercial motor vehicles (CMV); out of the 21,012 drivers pulled over during the 2015 Operation Safe Driver Week, passenger-vehicle drivers sped 27.3% of the time versus CMV drivers who sped 9.3% of the time.

Commercial Motor Vehicle:

A commercial motor vehicle is any vehicle used in commerce to transport passengers or property with either:

  • A gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more
  • A gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more which includes a towed unit with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 10,000 pounds
  • CMV:

This study must have bypassed California. I think I may be the only Truck Driver that sets his/ her cruise control on 58 mph in California

I do to tractor man haha. I used to speed in California but I would end up getting caught behind someone going the limit so I stopped. Figures when I do that everyone is speeding again haha.

Ok, now we have the FACTS! There are 2 CMV Drivers in the Country that drive at 58 mph in CA.

The truth of the matter is, an extra 4 mph is not going to make or break me. My Truck is governed at 62. But a 7 mph over Ticket will put a dent in my wallet, and a ding on my Pristine Driving Record.

Probably not a $1300.00 dent..........ahem, Gladhand!

Make that 3. 58 mph is it. I'm too cheap to pay for a ticket, and I refuse to give it to California if I wasn't!

Hmm. I must be the ONLY driver who actually sets the cruise to 55 then!
