Guilty! I got my CDL in July and haven't transferred it yet. Home time just hasn't worked out where I can get to the DMV. I'm going home Nov 1-4 though and plan on getting it switched...plus I want to vote early and can't without my GA license! I hope to add the hazmat endorsement too.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

Hazmat... Just a heads up.... Its kinda expensive at least in NJ. Prime only does like 3% of it. So if you plan on staying for the year.... It might make more sense to wait until at least you pay off whatever you owe prime.

My dispatcher told me to turn in the receipt and it would be covered. ??? For Ga, it's going to run about $100 for everything....background check and test.

I just got off the phone with a nice recruiter from Prime. Her name is Holly. Thanks to this forum, I asked her if I needed to get my CDL permit in my home state of CA before I went to orientation and training. She said yes and to also get the Tanker endorsement. If I go, I'll be going to their Salt Lake City facility.
This forum is awesome! Colin K.

Yay and congrats lol
I am in the Prime PSD program now. I did get the MO CDL permit and temporary license. I was told that this was the last class that would be able to take care of MO CDL permits. I was happy I passes the permit test on the first try.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
I am supposed to start at Prime in the 14th of this month (less than two weeks), yet my recruiter has said nothing of this...guess I need to call her
I start with Prime on the 7th. After reading this forum I called my recruiter and she assured me that I can get my permit in Springfield, MO. I just had to call her because I get on the bus tomorrow and didn't want to get there to be turned away because of miscommunication. My family and I have too much riding on this to have something like that happen.
Well I'm going into terminal on the 17th. I'll buy dinner for any of youz guys still there. Would be cool to meet up ;)
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Just got a message today that one of the issues about the CDL had to do with too many drivers keeping prime as their residence and not transferring the CDL back to home state. Prime almost lost its testing privileges due to this.
Its not just a licensing issue.. Its a residency and political issue. In addition to the censuses, licenses and residency are used to appropriate funds to municipalities and create voting district boundaries. It's Aldo a tax issue.
For this reason they want the CLP from the home state and you get back home ASAP once you pass the test
