At night inised a flashlight.... And once in training I threw my neon pink hoodie out the window... Trainer thought I was nuts
And don't be embarrassed to do it. The guy next to you wikk be glad u didn't hit his truck lol
I try not to let it bother me when I can't get it together. LOL I just laugh, shake my head, wave to those watching and probably making fun of me, and I move on to a place where I CAN park it.
Sounds like me. I made 2 different attempts at like 3 different spots. Couldn't get things to work out. Yet the minute i pick the narrow spot between a wide load and dropped trailer, I had been avoiding it, I slide her in smooth as silk
Night time backing is horrid!! So I start my day to make sure I can get into a ts when there should be plenty of spaces. But how do you practice o.k. a break? If I move the truck, my 30 gets cancelled, even if I stay under 5mph and drive less than 3min.

You have a sensitive QC. Mine only gets testy when I'm over my 14. If I'm empty I go on off duty drive. Because I'm not going over 5 miles it doesn't affect me. I just have to make sure to go back on duty before I rolll out. I'm much better at backing now so I don't do it anymore.
As a trainer myself, It sounds like you need to find a new trainer. The training is about "YOU" the student not the trainer being in a hurry. The only way you are going to get faster with the Qualcomm or at backing is to actually perform the work. Bring it up with the company you are working for. If this guy will not make the adjustment to actually "train" you then it is time for you to find someone who will.

I actually thought about having one of my aunt's making me up a few bright orange bean bags for doing 90's in tight places. I figure I could just toss one out the window as I drive by for a reference point on where to stop for my tandems. Then just inconspicuously pick it up later after I get situated. LOL

Tandems:
Tandem Axles
A set of axles spaced close together, legally defined as more than 40 and less than 96 inches apart by the USDOT. Drivers tend to refer to the tandem axles on their trailer as just "tandems". You might hear a driver say, "I'm 400 pounds overweight on my tandems", referring to his trailer tandems, not his tractor tandems. Tractor tandems are generally just referred to as "drives" which is short for "drive axles".
