Do a search on that school. I believe there are a few older posts about them.
The industry standard for experience is "a minimum of one year verifiable OTR experience". Thats not to say you couldnt get a local job from the get go, but it would be highly unlikely. Local driving does not count as experience and is quite difficult and not generally recommended for inexperienced drivers. Most local driving positions will require OTR experience.
I do not work for any of those companies but im sure others who do will chime in herw. Im sure there is plenty of information on this site.. Simply do a search in the search bar at the top of the page.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Thank You Sue D. I was hoping to get my CDL , and obtain a local job where I can be home daily. I could be OTR for only 2-3 weeks a month at a time after obtaining my CDL's. Maybe I will be able to find a flexible company. I don't want to get stuck in a contact and not have any control over how many days I am on the road for, the year commitment is fine, I'm okay with that part of it.

If your concern is being "locked" into a contract, you have the option of paying out of pocket for your Schooling. There is no free lunch.
Generally drivers earn one day of hometime for every week out. Roehl has some interesting part time options available in some areas.. Not sure if they offer that in your area, but in Kentucky they offer a 7 on, 7 off; 7 on 3 off, 7 on 4 off; and a 14 on, 7 off or something like that.
Give them a call and see if you qualify for their program.. I believe their school is located in Atlanta.
Thanks Tractor Man and Sue D.
How u doing L So I don't know anything about the school ur inquiring about. But did notice your in Ohio. I attended Roadmasters in Richfield OH. They have other locations in OH not sure which is closest to you. They school is a great school. They have day and evening classes as well. Three week course 160 hr they set u up with plenty of choices for companies. Some of which u mentioned. Like Sue stated u will have to get ur experience so most companies have u begin OTR. Its not necessarily a bad thing. I don't know ur family situation. And that maybe why u would like to be home everyday. As for myself I'm married with two young girls and just started my training with my mentor on 10/22/16. It will be tough being apart from family but is a sacrifice needed to be made in order to accomplish what I'm trying to do. Plenty of companies to choose from and all have variations as to home time but the standard is 7 days out 1 day off. Just my opinion it wouldn't be suitable to go home for the one day after u worked 7 because u will barely see ur family before u getcomfortable being home ur heading out again. Good luck with ur pursuit and good luck. Definitely do ur research there's a lot of info on companies on this site. Go through them and see which best fits your needs. ✌🏻️

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
