This looks like a good one for Prime Drivers.
Hey Brandon...congrats on your new adventure! I am also in your same shoes... I'm supposed to start with Prime on the 14th of this month. I can't answer any of your questions in any intelligent way, but as for getting your permit before you go, you might want to check out the thread on here, "Update on Prime". Apparently there are new regulations regarding needing your permit BEFORE you attend training at Prime. I have emailed my recruiter to get clarification...you might want to do the same. Best of luck to you...God bless and God Speed!
Actually it's entitled "Prime New Update" Sorry for any confusion!
I just read that, I'm glad we caught that! I was planning the 14th as well but had some issues arise some i pushing back a bit.

It started with no enjoyment in my current job, and never being able to make ends meet. I've always had an interest in the transportation industry. A few weeks back I began researching trucking companies and if this was a move I wanted to make. My grandfather was a driver TMC for the experience then moved in to local operations for the Post Office. Anyways, babbling on a bit too much. After reading review after review, watching video after video it was all so overwhelming. I initially applied with Swift, then I became interested in Schneider and Prime. I pre-applied with all just to get more information and speak with recruiters.
I finally made the decision to lean more towards Prime Inc as they had more impressive/important things to me. I attempt to not judge companies based off negative reviews. However Prime is just the company that seems right. Prior to doing this I was a emergency service dispatcher for in Central Illinois.
Now off to a few questions that I would like to start with:
What is the recommended amount you take with down to training? I understand there is the amount the company recommends, but for those that have been through the process what did you bring.
Do you believe that it's beneficial to get your permit prior to the school?
Any tips for a beginner? I know theres so many posts but I'd like some personal tips. Coming from a high stress job, what do you suggest?
I appreciate all the help!
