Wow! You don't expect that in Oklahoma. Well at least I don't. When I saw the subject of this topic I thought maybe you were referring to their college football teams
I was sitting on a couch upstars in OKC 150 mi from Cushing when it hit and it was unnerving to say the least. Creaking boards and a good shaking. Funny thing is my wife who works about 300 yards from here was working and her nor any employees with the exception of a guy leaning against a wall (my dream job) felt it. I think being upstairs and the structure your in are key. My daughters friend in wichita Ks. Also 150mi. from Cushing also felt it. My only other earthquake experience was in Irving Tx. About 5 years ago which was more of a vibration as opposed to this shaking /swaying stuff. The cumulative affects of the many minor quakes here are going to be costly in the long term to infrastructure.

I hope friends and family of people here are okay, as well as the people here, of course. Living in CA most of the my life, earthquakes don't phase me much. Opening up the door and seeing a tornadoe coming, however, would freak me out. Everywhere has something that is scary.

I'm from California. Sometimes people will ask me about living with earthquakes. Instead of answering that, I ask these people about living with tornadoes. Touché.
Northridge earthquake, 1994. This is I-5 just north of LA. I lived about 40 miles south, and I felt this quake. Roads in Oklahoma aren't built to California earthquake standards.
Earthquakes are actually fairly common in Oklahoma now..Nothing major yet but small ones are very frequent. The amount of drilling that is done there has made the geology very unstable in some places. I know this from my current field of work (insurance) that I will be escaping to to give trucking a try. The insurance companies I work with charge a lot for or refuse to provide earthquake coverage in some parts of Oklahoma. These companies already price home insurance through the roof in Oklahoma because of the high amount of tornadoes.
Here's a link to the USGS "live" map of earthquakes:
OK to shut down dozens of fracking wells.
Glad to see some local government starting to push back against these practices in the interests of their communities. There's enough wealth and technology in the world to develop less destructive energy sources.

The DC area had a quake a few years ago. No fracking here. Oklahoma has always sat at the edge of a plate. Earthquakes have become more prevalent over the past few years worldwide.
