Wow that is amazing! Now what's their equipment like? Do they keep their equipment nice and updates? Why I ask is because in their pamphlet they say that they do and that they keep them very clean. What is their work environment like? I know that they are Christian based which is a plus for me, but are the people their friendly and kind?

Oldest trucks we have are 2014 and not many of those left. Mostly ProStars and a few Freightliners. Company pays for a wash every 30 days. As for my own experience...anytime I've had any problem, which have been few, knock on wood, I call and it's taken care of. I've never had a problem with any other employee...driver, tech, trainer, office etc...My personal opinion is that they do care about their employees. I had only been out of training for a month solo when my dad passed away, I let my FM know I might give him short notice because of my dads health to get home...when I did call he got me home the next morning...I called a couple days later to tell him and his immediate response was...well take the time you need and just get back with me when you'll be available. They also called me back that day for an address & sent a flower arrangement. Sorry so long but I was just really impressed that they would go that far for someone who'd only been there a few weeks. They just built a new training facility and drivers lounge at the Cuba terminal & are starting a new terminal in Texas soon.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Wow I am impressed, one I do have is so they have teminals up in Pennsylvania and Virginia? I really like them so far. Nothing but good things. Are they getting new equipment and is the cuba teminal in the United States or no? Are they in Alabama?

I do really want to do flatbed.

Terminals in Cuba AL, Pleasant Hill NC, Ennis TX & South Pittsburgh TN. I do know we have East Coast runs including NY down to Atlanta...Run through TN, WI, NC, SC, OH, MN, MO, MI, KY etc...Regularly updating trucks...currently 2015-2017 with a few 2014's left. Of course folks say MTL is must tarp loads but most are pre-tarped and all you do is put bungees & straps on... Occasionally you'll tarp with a tarp machine and over the last month I've probably had to actually climb on top and tarp about 3-4 times.

So what kind of trucks do they have now? So they have different name brands now? I'm just really interested in McElroy and need as much info as possible. I live in Virginia so would they pay for my gas and expenses coming down there? And how would you rate TMC compared to McElroy? TMC I know has terminals in Virginia and Pensylvania.

I drive for Maverick. I considered tmc and McElroy as well as melton. All in all you can't go wrong with any of these companies. I see all these companies at the same shippers and receivers I go to. The pay is all pretty close as well. Just do your research and go with whoever you believe is the best fit. It may come down to what color truck you want to drive. Good luck

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

How much does Maverick pay for flatbed freight? Do they pay minimum commision on loads and how much do they pay per mile?

Rookies with no experience start at .38 with automatic .02 bonus pay as a teaser basically. You can make up to .06 cpm extra in bonuses. After 6 months your base pay goes to .44 and your bonus cpm is whatever you earned for that quarter. I'll be at .50 in January. They have short milage pay of 450 miles minimum I think. I rarely need it tho

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

McElroy runs International Prostars & Freightliners....I think Maverick runs all Freightliners but not sure. Can't guarantee it but I would bet most companies would come up pretty equal in pay....some pay more in mileage or for minimum miles or you might get a little more mileage at one that doesn't pay as much but in the end it pretty much equals out. If one was paying that much of a difference everybody would be flocking to that one company. Not sure if they'll repay your travel expense but I think they will pay for a bus to the training and they do pay your hotel while at training. I know when you go out with a trainer that if your trainer is over 200 miles away then you get $750/week pay and a hotel for the weekend if needed.
