Really? I always see engine block warmers on the Dodge pickup build and price menus

Different animal. Most block heaters go into a frost plug opening. On a Powerstroke.. but you get the general idea. engine block heater installed

As far as CB Radios go, I purchased a Uniden PRO520XL 40-Channel CB Radio on Amazon for $39.00. It is connected to the Factory "built in" antenna on my 2015 Freightliner Cascadia. It works just fine for my purposes. I only use it for traffic info, (huge back ups on the freeway), or if there is weather in the area. I have it on most of the time while driving. 95% of the time it is silent, never have it on in or near Truck Stops. There are too many a-holes that get a kick out of acting like adolescent boys when their Mothers aren't around. Never the less, I would not drive without having one on the Truck. It just may save my life or someone else's. As far as using it to chat with other Drivers, I really don't hear much of that at all. I believe the Smokey and the Bandit Era is over out here.

Well is there any reason that we can't launch our own CB culture revival?

Pick a number between 1 and 40 (exclude 9, 19, possibly 1 thru 6, and maybe some of the channels above 30...) and call it the Trucking Truth CB Culture Revival Channel and let's see what happens.

I'm not yet finished with my training - testing for our CDL begins December 12 - but I can set up my CB as a base station and monitor the airwaves from here in Norfolk, VA.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Why not use channel 21. The age you need to be to do interstate commerce.

Gonna put mine on 21 from here on out. Except when I need traffic or weather info and no one is on 21. Absolutely GREAT idea!

21 it is!

I'll put up an antenna in the morning and set up the radio and power supply.

I have been driving for two years without a CB, just started looking into getting one. Now I have an added incentive! Coming up with a "handle" may be the toughest part.

Did I just inspire a revolution? Holy cow lol I just asked a simple question and now here we are. This is awesome. As soon as I get my truck and cb channel 21 is where I'll be
