I don't watch NASCAR. But, I love going to local small dirt or even asphalt oval tracks and watch those races. Or take my motorcycle down to the local 1/8 mile drag track, pay my $40, sign the waiver and then have 1 heck of a fun time taking it down the track again and again for hours.
Fortunately, there are still racing organizations where entertainment still exists.
Look at the imsa or wec circuits, gt, gtlm, prototype. Even f1 is still entertaining. While they still are all about sponsors, these guys still get in there and race hard.

Kinda like the Grass Roots nature of Trucking. We don't drive Cabover Kidney Busters with a piece of plywood to put across the seats to sleep on either. Technology and Engineering continue to march forward whether we like it or not. I kind of like the smooth riding sleeper cab Tractor that has evolved from the "Old Days"!
