I'm owner op so i don't have answer to anybody. I just would like to hit the gym after driving so dropping the trailer for couple hours and bobtailing to the gym would be nice.

Get permission - lock kingpin and gladhands.

Or just uber over and back. Even as an O/O making my own rules (as far as that goes) I wouldn't want to leave my asset exposed to possible theft, etc.

Rick

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

rofl-3.gif That was a good one Vince! Care to explain that one-liner in a little more depth to us?

I saw that, but I just bit my tongue. (Or do I bite my typing finger now?)

But, yes, inquiring minds would like to know who, if anybody, O/O's answer to. I know it's not state troopers as these guys set their own speed limits on the interstate!

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

Just an example of how many truck stops actually do have workout facilities.

Why not get a gym membership at a 24 hour gym that usually has parking? My friend is regional and goes to LA Fitness. He says they are 24/7 are usually in mall type of parking areas and he can shower there too. Not sure about Planet Fitness. But I'm sure you can find others.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

I do have 24 hour fitness and there's allot of them but seems like mousy of them are not easily accessible.

That's sucks. It was just thought.

If you use a kingpin lock, be sure to remember its there. Someone on this forum forgot about his and it didn't end well. I would imagine the glad hand lock would be a better option.

Adn for gods sake - don't lose your keys. These things are a bear to get off - FOR A REASON - they keep your trailer from getting stolen (or at least easily stolen). Some of the larger companies that "issue" (make you buy) a set of locks, have only a few "series" of locks (that is to say many of them are "keyed alike" - like "fleet locks").

Same goes for Gladhand locks, and "air cuffs" (the locks that go over the air valves in the cab). Not easy to get off.

Keep SPARE KEYS hidden in the cab somewhere, in case you lose the set you're CARRYING.

Just ask the fuel desk if you can drop a trailer. I do it on occasion. The Petro in Las Vegas will allow it, just have to sign it in their book and let them know when your back under it. I needed to go to the bank and hit a Walmart. The TA in Eugene let me drop a trailer for the day I just had to pay $11 for one of the reserved spots. I've also made quick runs 30 minutes or less without asking, I dropped my trailer in the back row and did what I needed to do. Although I don't recommend that but I have done it a few times.

I always came back to find damage anytime I left both or just the trailer.
