Yeah, the Northeast has two major problems that contribute to the misery - a very dense population and very old cities which weren't built to accommodate the size of modern trucks. It's a nightmare - no question about it. Someone on here a few months ago (I think) was talking about how they hate driving in Texas and I thought, "Spoken like it came from someone who hasn't spent any time in Jersey!" because Texas is a dream compared to that.

I spent a year in a division that only ran the Northeast - delivering to Dollar Tree stores. Not only was running the Northeast brutal, but we had to unload the trucks by hand. 90,000 pounds of freight a week. It was a nightmare you just couldn't wake up from!

That was me who professed a distaste for Texas. However, we've made amends; I've been down there a lot lately and had nothing but smoooooth sailin'! And you are correct about Jersey (and the entire NE, for that matter). I've never been. I wouldn't mind trying it once, but there's not a lot of call for well casing in Boston. :)

Can't wait until we colonize the moon or Mars and they need drivers out there! Hopefully they'll build roads to accommodate trucks and teach people how to drive around trucks. lol.

I am 100% with you, RedGator...I hate the NE too. From the Tappan Zee bridge across into Hartford, it's just miserable. Downtown NY is horrible to.

And the lack of truck stops....I just don't like it. I usually run from midnight to noon when there, and tell dispatch they need to make appts in the early morning. It's the only way you can have an even reasonable chance of getting a spot in a truck stop.

I've found a couple stops along the way of routes I usually take which I can generally count out, but from the time you hit northern Jersey until you are east of Hartford, it's about impossible to find a place to park.

I try to stay out of there as much as possible. Good thing we have a lot of freight west and south.

The few times this western bred and raised cowgirl went to the NE, she decided she didn't like it....to many people...rude people...to much traffic...and no place to water your horse...
