I've done an exhaustive search on CDL companies, and chose Sage. If you read long enough you'll find negativity about every CDL school, every trucking company, but it was very very difficult to find anything to the contrary written about Sage. I am attending one of their schools that also is accredited by the PTDI, which many truckers will downplay, but several companies I've researched will only consider CDL graduates from a PTDI-accredited school. I also like the fact that they are not a company-sponsored school, so I will not be locked into any sort of contract. As far as their school that is accredited by the PTDI, I feel any advantage I can get over new graduates from other schools, I'll take. Good luck with your choice, I'm very happy with mine. I begin Mar. 27 in Billings, Montana. See you on the road!

Marc asks:

When Old School gets here you can expect him to tell you something like this:

If you have realistic expectations of the demands of this career, and you are prepared to do whatever it takes to succeed, then you will have a good experience no matter which company you choose to start with.

Of course, if that is not something that he is likely to say then I'll get an earful when he shows up...

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Old School would be proud of you. In a nutshell, that is exactly what he "Preaches". The Guy must be able to type 150 wpm, he is very thorough in his responses. With my lack of typing skills it would take me all day! Thanks for taking the time to educate us Noobs OS, we appreciate it!

Sage is good. I got a little bit of a bum deal on the day I tested, but my tester/trainer later told me he was frustrated with me because he knew I could do better than I was doing at the time.

Their pretrip inspection training is excellent and the one-on-one driver training makes it worth your money.

The nice thing about Sage is that they have lifetime referrals once you graduate. This is very helpful if you come back to them in a year or two (or whenever) and need to find a new company to work for.

Good luck!

Melton is a great place to get started as a flat-bed driver. It's a great place to stay as a flat-bedder.

I would say more, but John L stole my thunder! smile.gif

It's nice to have a few disciples taking up my message. It means I'm getting across to a few folks!
