Congratulations Paul
Congratulations, Paul! This seems so much a cliché, but it's been great to participate in your trucking education since the start. But I have only a year on you, so I may be old, but not an old timer.
I want to second your first year's experience, all the different driving opportunities, and that gives you a way to make a solid choice to what you'd like to do on the long term. For newer people reading this, yes your first job will probably be OTR but you'll soon have a chance to sample the different things you can do with an 18 wheeler and have fun on your job.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Yay...you've certainly made my year more enjoyable ;)
Wow that went by quick... Congratulations Paul...!!!
Paul, Job well done! We really need to meet up someday. I'm sure our paths will cross eventually. BTW....... You never responded to my question in another thread. How many "Keys" does a piano have. Evidently you have no problem finding all of those, even when you're NOT looking!
Awesome! Great job Paul.
Congratulations Paul!!
Woooo Hooooo!!

Whew, I made it!
Today marks my first anniversary with Swift! I've only been solo since end of January but I was officially hired on and started pulling loads for Swift in December.
Thank you so much to Brett for creating this site and to the moderators and others on this site who made this first year so much more enjoyable and gave me advice every step of the way. And if it weren't for the advice I received here, I'm not sure I would have had the good sense to stick it out for a whole year here.
It's been a fulfilling year. I did Costco dedicated during training, hauled reefer otr for about six months after that, did Miller Coors dedicated for four months, and I've also done some of Walmart dedicated, local, and Target dedicated (what I'm doing now). I've pulled Swift trailers, Central Refrigerated trailers, Walmart trailers, Target trailers, and Xtra Lease trailers. I've also driven a 2016 automatic Freightliner Cascadia, a 2013 8-speed Volvo (don't know the model), and now a 2014 8-speed Freightliner Cascadia. I've driven in 37 states in sunshine, wind (including a tornado--yeah that's a fun story) , rain, snow, and ice. I started out being gone for weeks at a time and now I'm home every night.
...Looking forward to another year of SAFE driving.
