That's an awesome summary for your first year. You took the opportunity to try different divisions, haul different types of freight, drive several different trucks, and you started OTR and ended up home every night. You didn't mention it but I'm sure you were given some raises along the way too.

You've made it to a point only a rather small percentage of new drivers ever reach - one year in the industry. It's a very proud accomplishment for anyone, I don't care who you are. Trucking is a really, really tough career and no one has an easy first year. To get to the point you can say you survived your first year out there and you're going strong is indeed a moment to be proud of!

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

That's awesome Paul!

Whether you know it or not, although you yourself were just learning this first year, you helped me and others with your participation in these threads.

That's part of what makes this site so cool. Honest communication through the learning process helps us all. So thanks and....... congratulations! !

Great job Paul!

It really is a major accomplishment. You've been a big help in here just like Turtle said. Often times we don't realize how our own struggles and/or successes shared in here are very beneficial to those who come across them.

Congratulations Paul! Maybe one day we can get together with mountaingirl and Pat M. for a cup of coffee at one of the truck stops in the area.

Wow that went by quick... Congratulations Paul...!!!

Hey G, thanks for mentoring me so much during this critical first year. I have come to rely on your consistent wisdom and support, even if you did think I was in my forties!

Thank you Brett. I am indebted to you for building this site for us new drivers. This is a TREMENDOUS resource and I recommend it to every new driver I meet.

No raises yet unfortunately, but my pay should bump up now that I've been here a year. I wasn't the greatest driver ever though. I'm just glad I made it through without getting fired! rofl-3.gif
