I drive for Swift. In two years I've been OTR , regional and shuttle driver, all because I was offered the opportunity and took it.
If you have pretty much decided on Swift, I'd suggest getting to solo OTR first, since that's most probably what you'll get at the start. Then after a bit, ask your Driver Manager , or others in the office about regional jobs in Montana.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
I know we deliver to the Shopco stores out there and all over the Midwest.

Sorry, that's Shopko.
Thanks fellas!
I know we have a Walmart DC in Corinne, UT, and deliver regularly to the Walmart stores in Montana. Some of our dedicated Walmart accounts insist you must live within a certain radius (such as within 100 miles) but I think the Corinne account is more lenient. I live near Denver and they were willing to take me on.
Paul is correct. I drive the Walmart acct out of Corrine. We service the Butte, Bozeman,Helena, Great Falls and Havre stores in Montana. Havre be g our longest run at 1230 miles round trip. Great place to run out of. Good people on the fleet and in the office and a great shop.
